Vinyl fence guide

Plan vinyl panels from the system’s real installed width.

Vinyl fencing is modular. The product’s center-to-center post dimension should control the section width—not a generic rule.

Start with the product sheet

Find the panel module or center-to-center post dimension before calculating. Enter that value as the maximum spacing so the section count reflects the system you intend to buy.

Posts and panels

The planner keeps complete panels at the installed module width. If a run is not an exact multiple, it counts one additional panel, places it at the end and shows the required cut width. It never stretches every panel to make the run fit.

What remains outside the count

Whether a panel may be shortened, minimum cut width, post stiffeners, brackets, caps, reinforcement, gate hardware, fasteners, drainage, slope, wind requirements and footing depth vary by product and location. Verify them before ordering.

Common questions

Quick answers before you calculate.

Which spacing should I enter for vinyl fence?

Use the manufacturer’s actual center-to-center post spacing or panel module width. Nominal panel names are not always the installed dimension.

Does the calculator include brackets, gates and post inserts?

It counts gate openings and the two gate-side terminal positions, and lets you enter a gate price. It does not specify brackets, caps, inserts, fasteners or gate reinforcement; verify those with the chosen system.
